Common Name
Swamp Spider Orchid

Description
The Swamp Spider Orchid is an attractive red and green flowering spider orchid from marshy soils of Western Australia. Flower stems are up to 50 cm tall. The dorsal sepal arches over the labellum which is white with red markings, red lip, and reddish toothed margins. The lateral petals and sepals are long and thin and greenish with reddish markings. Flowering is in spring and early summer from September to December. There is a single narrow hairy leaf about 30 cm long growing from the base of the plant.

Habitat
grows on seasonally (winter) wet soils

Distribution
Caladenia paludosa is found only in south west corner of Western Australia from north of Perth down to around the Augusta area
