Description Prickly Bottlebrush is a stiff shrub or small tree growing about 4 m tall. The leaves are linear with a pointed tip, growing about 2 cm to 4 cm long and 1 mm wide. Flowers are produced in bottlebrush spikes, about 3 cm to 5 cm long. The flowers are crimson red with yellow anthers. Flowering is in spring and summer from September to January. The fruit are woody capsules about 0.5 cm long. The plant is also known as Melaleuca brachyandra.
Habitat sandy soils in sub arid regions
Distribution Prickly Bottlebrush is found in inland New South Wales, north-western Victoria and south-eastern South Australia.
