Description Needle Bottlebrush is a shrub growing to 2 m tall. The leaves are needle shaped, growing 5 cm to 11 cm long and 1 mm to 1.5 mm wide with sharp point. The flowers are bright red or orange and produced in bottlebrush spikes, about 5 cm to 7 cm long and 4.5 cm to 5 cm in diameter. Flowering is in spring between October and December. The fruit are woody capsules about 5 mm to 7 mm long. The plant is also known as Melaleuca orophila.
Habitat mallee, woodland on rocky hillsides, ridges
Distribution Needle Bottlebrush is found in eastern South Australia, mainly in the Flinders Ranges region.
