Common Name
Jug Orchid

Description
The Jug Orchid is terrestrial orchid with striped flowers from Western Australia. The flowers are green and white striped, sometimes with brownish towards the tips, and grow on stems of up to 60 cm in length. The flowers, which are fairly large for a Greenhood orchid, growing to about 35 mm tall. The common name of Jug Orchid arises from the tube shaped flowers made up of the fused petals and sepals of the orchid. Flowering is in spring from August to October. This unusual species is unlike other members of the Pterostylis genus.

Habitat
rocky outcrops, heathland

Distribution
Pterostylis recurva is found in the south west of Western Australia from north of Perth to around Esperance.
